Anna C. got the season off right, knocking in the first goal of the year after Lizzie's corner kick dropped the ball into the penalty area in the 16th minute. Lizzie put the Western United squad up 2-0, drilling home a shot from the top of the penalty area with 15 seconds left in the first half.

The Hopewell storm came back in the second half, converting a cross that hugged the goal line and sneaked across just inside the back post to make the score 2-1. The game was tied when a shot banked off several players to an untended area of the net with just a few minutes left.
